Watch Great Wrestling

WGW is an informal research project with little-to-no methodology seeking to answer the question "What makes a great wrestling match, and why?" We watch the best wrestling matches of all time, suggested by you, and then show them to our friends to see if they hold up!

Yet another off-season 'sode for your ears to feast on. Joaquin, Chuck, Frank and Tom start things off with a conversation about finishing moves in wrestling. THEN it's game night as we play "Pick From the Hat & Believe That" - the twist this week is the boys pull wrestler names and decide what their signature match should be! It is, of course, very serious and scientific.

As always, if you have awesome match suggestions for us to watch, e-mail us at thisisawesomepod@gmail.com or tweet us @TIAPOD

And of course, you can listen to every episode of the show and learn a little bit about us at our home on the web

It's still off-season time, so settle in and listen to your wrestle-boys Joaquin, Chuck, Frank and Tom talk about the term "mark" and what it means in today's wrestling landscape. Then, fire up the network, dip your hands in glass, and join us for a live watch of Ian Rotten vs Axl Rotten. It's brother vs brother in a Taipei Death Match!

( WWE Network - ECW Hardcore Heaven 1995 - press play when we do at timecode: 1:02:08 )

Back again, it's another off-season 'sode from your wrestle boys Joaquin, Chuck, Frank & Tom. We're talking Beating Brock Lesnar before doing a (not-so) deep dive into the silliness of some wrestler entrance theme lyrics.

As always, if you have awesome match suggestions for us to watch, e-mail us at thisisawesomepod@gmail.com or tweet us @TIAPOD

And of course, you can listen to every episode and learn a little bit about the pod at our home on the world wide web

It's off-season time at This Is Awesome, so thing's are going to get a little weird. Join us this week as we talk bad crowds, play "Pick From the Hat & Believe That" and hear a very special confession from our own Frank Gibson.

Remember, if you have awesome match suggestions for us to watch, e-mail us at Thisisawesomepod@gmail.com or tweet us @tiapod

We did it! We took Thanksgiving off! But we also watched ten great wrestling matches over the past couple of months with a bunch of great non-wrestling fans... but what did we learn?

Joining us on hosting duties is Producer Tom who guides us through a discussion regarding our findings (or lack thereof) from Season 1. Join us next week for our off-season, where we'll be doing short episodes just talking rasslin' and have some goofs!

We're going to Disneyland and we're going to ride Space Mountain! It isn't actually the oldest ride and right now the deliciously 90s Nightmare Before Christmas has the longest line (or the Cars ride), but on our way there we ran into former professional body-builder and excellent bassist Sting and now he's showing us his first big world title match against the Nature Boy Ric Flair from the first Clash of Champions! Wowzers!

Joining us on Mr. Toad's Wild Ride is Imzy's own Ryan Saucier and he's going to tell us how we somehow ended up in hell and why it's made of cardboard.

Apologies for stretching this analogy out and for the delays in posting this podcast!

Ever felt deep in your heart that professional wrestling was missing something? Well let us fill that hole in your life with a corporate account at Home Depot, because we're about to misuse some furniture as this week the boys are breaking down Tables, Ladders and Chairs II at Wrestlemania 27 featuring Edge & Christian, The Hardy Boys and The Dudley Boys for the World Tag Team Championship.

Joining us in the gleeful destruction of household objects is DC Comics writer Sam Humphries!

Brooklyn Brooklyn! This episode is one of mystic wonder as magician's assistants Joaquin, Frank and Chuck take notes on one of the top women's wrestling matches in WWE history, Sasha Banks vs Bayley for the NXT Women's Championship at NXT Takeover Brooklyn.

Helping us pull back the curtain and reveal the magical secrets of wrestling*  is comedian Annelise Dekker-Hernandez! Watch along with us and maybe we'll all learn a thing or two together.

*Disclaimer: Joaquin, Frank and Chuck know absolutely nothing about the secrets of wrestling or anything else for that matter. Also sorry this episode was late, the file uploaded weird.

It is the year 1991, Wrestlemania VII, and careers are on the line as the Ultimate Warrior takes on The Macho Man Randy Savage in wrestling's greatest (only?) love story. Joaquin, Frank and Chuck get the waterworks going in what can only be described as wrestling's greatest love story.

Dabbing at our tears is Josie Campbell, sketch writer for the Disney XD animated series Right Now Kapow.

Look up in the sky! It's a Superman joke! Actually, that would be much more pleasant. Instead it’s Mick Foley readying himself for one of a multitude of terrible landings and damn near killing himself. Join Joaquin, Chuck and Frank as they investigate possibly the most iconic match ever wrestled in the WWE. Joining our investigators this episode is none other than comic artist and story-boarder for Adventure Time, Sam Alden!

Warning: Episode features around 10 minutes of commentary per wrestling move.

A truth held most self-evident is NO ONE gets higher than Rob Van Dam... other than perhaps his greatest rival, Mr. JL himself, Jerry Lynn. Watch along with Chuck, Frank and Joaquin, then let's sit backwards on our chairs and rap about Rob Van Dam vs Jerry Lynn from ECW's Hardcore Heaven 99 for the ECW Television Championship. Joining us at the Olympics to score the high-jump is reformed wrestling fan and creator of Ora.TV's Wayward Nation Mikey McManus.

Frank, Chuck, and Joaquin are in no way associated with the Make-A-Wish Foundation... But that didn’t stop John Cena from giving our boys one hell of a match to comb through when he went head to head with CM Punk on Monday Night RAW  February 26, 2013. Our genie for this week is a veteran of many animated series such as The Simpsons and Phineas & Ferb as well as co-curator of Bad Movie Night at Meltdown Comics, John Mathot!

Sit down with us for a spell and break down the action of the “Best in the World” taking on the man with the “World’s Best Jorts.”

Sep 22, 2016

Joaquin, Chuck and Frank get hardcore in this week's episode with a little help from multi-talented sketch comedian Chris Milliken. Join us to fine out out if our panel could follow this match better than WCW camera men!

Joaquin, Chuck and Frank embark on their first journey inside the Ring of Honor alongside publicist and proud main-roster WWE fan Ana Espinoza. Can our humble panel keep count of Kobashi's chops? Listen to find out!

For our first episode the hosts Frank Gibson, Joaquin Poblete and Charlie Antosca work out if, indeed, The Rock vs Hulk Hogan is awesome. Their lab assistant for this episode? Bonafide non-wrestling fan, author of This Movie Will Require Dinosaurs and featured performer on the WWE Network's Swerved... Curt Neill!
